Noopept (GVS-111, Omberacetam) is a synthetic dipeptide nootropic. In the body it is rapidly metabolized into cyclo-prolylglycine, a cyclic dipeptide naturally involved in memory formation processes.
Mechanism of action: it modulates AMPA and NMDA glutamate receptors, enhances neuronal sensitivity to acetylcholine, and affects serotonin and dopamine turnover in the brain. It stimulates expression of the neurotrophic factors NGF and BDNF in the hippocampus — an effect seen after a single dose and potentiated by long-term (28-day) administration without tolerance, which is linked to improved learning and memory.
Noopept shows pronounced neuroprotective activity — reducing glutamate-calcium excitotoxicity under ischemia and oxidative stress, and lowering lipid peroxidation products (according to the developers' research, its antioxidant activity is roughly two orders of magnitude, i.e. about 100 times, higher than that of vitamin E in these models). Its anti-inflammatory activity is comparable to ibuprofen, reducing the pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α.
Storage conditions:
The powder is stable for up to 3 years at +15°C…+25°C, or more than 5 years at -20°C. The substance is hygroscopic — moisture triggers hydrolysis, so store in an airtight container. Aqueous solutions are unstable: keep for no more than 1–2 months at +2°C…+8°C and avoid heat (thermal hydrolysis of the dipeptide bond). The phenylacetyl group is light-sensitive — use dark, opaque packaging.
